Urge your U.S House Representative to support HR40

Messaging script:

I urge you to support H.R. 40, which would establish a commission to examine the institution of slavery and its impact and make recommendations for reparations to Congress.

No amount of material resources or monetary compensation can ever be sufficient restitution for the spiritual, mental, cultural and physical damage inflicted on African Americans ripped from their families and nations to labor for the enrichment of the United States. After the "abolition" of slavery, those emancipated suffered violent repression, oppression, exploitation and deprivation under Jim Crow laws and black codes in the South, as well as de facto segregation in every region of this nation.

Reparations are not a symbolic act -- they are a real and necessary demand for justice that's gaining support among your fellow members of Congress and even power centers like J.P. Morgan, the Episcopal Church, and the city of Charleston, SC. Reparations are about respect, reconciliation, and propelling us toward a more just future.

Reparations for slavery are necessary if we are to advance racial justice in this country. I urge you to support H.R. 40.

Sincerely,

Contact your U.S Senator and urge them to pass the Women's Health Protection Act

Hello, my name is [YOUR NAME] and as your constituent, I am calling in support of the Women's Health Protection Act, which would protect access to abortion at a time when our rights are on the line like never before.

Every day, the future of abortion access is growing more uncertain. The Supreme Court just allowed a ban on abortion to take effect in Texas for the first time ever and is set to hear a direct challenge to Roe v. Wade this term.Even though the vast majority of Americans support abortion rights, politicians around the country are passing laws that delay and obstruct access to care, force providers to close their doors, or ban abortion altogether. We need a federal safeguard to protect everyone's right to access abortion, no matter where they live.

It's urgent for Congress to act by passing the Women's Health Protection Act to safeguard our constitutional right to abortion. I urge you to support passage of this important bill.

Governor Ivey doesn't have a direct email so put "HEALTHCARE" for subject and paste the following in COMMENTS:

Hello Governor Ivey,

My name is [your name] and I urge you to veto HB1/SB10 and HB391.

HB1/SB10 puts trans youth at risk. Research clearly shows that gender-affirming healthcare saves lives. Criminalizing providing healthcare for trans youth is inhumane, dehumanizing, and will put trans youth at immense risk. This is clear discrimination against trans people, which is unconstitutional. Trans people deserve equal rights and autonomy in healthcare. Please VETO HB1570 to protect all trans people in Alabama.

HB391 wrongly discriminates against transgender girls in sports. Trans girls deserve to play on girls’ teams, just like any other girls do. Trans girls do not threaten women’s sports. In fact, the exclusion of trans women threatens women’s sport because the exclusion of trans women demands rampant policing of women’s bodies. That is, HB391 threatens ALL girls, because any girl can be accused of being transgender. This not only demonizes and weaponizes transness but also legally enforces the policing of women’s bodies in sport. Please VETO HB391 to protect ALL athletes.

Thank you,
