Glitter, Gold, Diamonds

How often do you look in the mirror and silently point out your flaws? How often do you ask your friends “Is this noticeable?” How often do you focus on the imperfections of the things that humans find gross or ugly? Wouldn’t it be cool if we found imperfections or flaws as a little extra beauty? How often do you look in the mirror and silently point out your flaws? How often do you ask your friends “Is this noticeable?” How often do you focus on the imperfections of the things that humans find gross or ugly? Wouldn’t it be cool if we found imperfections or flaws as a little extra beauty?

Is a pimple really a flaw? We all know it’ll go away at some point. This might sound pathetic but once a pimple has left the building, there’s a sense of accomplishment and relief. You’ve just won a war with something you didn’t appreciate being on your body. Take that thing you could live without and use it to your advantage. When being relieved from a pimple, you’ve gone from avoiding the mirror to taking those bomb ass selfies.

Now, hear me out, what if we changed the concept of pimples, zits, and acne? One of my friends told me that whenever she had a pimple or acne of any kind she would put a sticker of a diamond on it. I thought this was the greatest idea ever so I asked her if I could use that analogy for this post.

Imagine yourself with two or three diamond stickers on your face as you walked around school and sent snapchats to your friends. Life would be more simple. Life would be a little bit more interesting.

When my friend told me this my immediate thought was “what an awesome way to turn something considered bad into something good!” Sure, it’s a drag having a few little blemishes on your face, but now we can look at it as if it’s an opportunity. An opportunity to do something that makes life easier and happier. It’s okay to cover up a little som’n-som’n here and there, it’s your body. You should feel free to do whatever the heck you want with it. But don’t give the negative thoughts about you authority, overpower them with a diamond sticker, glitter, makeup, or whatever you feel comfortable putting on your face.

Let those things you call flaws help you shine bright like a diamond, cause honey you are one.

xoxo

Raquel
