You Are Who You Choose To Be | Tabitha Willner

In this article I will be talking about how people try to make us something that we are not, and I’m here to put a stop to that.

There is always that something, that someone, who says we can’t be who we want to be, who we long to be. Then there is those people who fall into that stupid spell they put on us, and say things like, “If you want to be a boy well that's too bad, you were born a girl, and that's what, and who you are.” Then these people end up feeling lost, they don't know what to do with their life, they don’t know why they are so different.

Why does society think it's okay to do this to people? It's like saying, “You want to be a doctor? Well sorry that's not who you’re meant to be, go be a construction worker instead.”

Lately I’ve been hearing the, “You can’t wear that, its not modest.” If a girl wants to wear a belly show shirt, let her! Let her be herself. If she feels better in modest clothes, don’t judge her for not wanting to show off her body. Someone told me today to “just do you” and as small as that may seem, I think that's some of the best advice I have heard because we all just need to be ourselves. If you like the same gender, like them, be you. If you feel better being a boy or a girl, feel that feeling, do you. Whatever you believe in, don’t let anyone make you feel ashamed or make you believe you’re wrong.

Whatever job title you want to have, go for it, don’t listen to those who tell you you’ll never make it, instead look them in the eyes and say, “Just watch me.” Nobody can steal your power.

YOU DO YOU.
